Hotel Boiler Room

The Iowana Hotel, located in Creston, IA, began restoration in 2011. Part of the project included bringing the old boiler room floor up to level with the rest of the basement. To fill the room, cellular concrete was chosen over “conventional” flowable fill or sand because of it’s cost effectiveness and ease of placement. An advantage of cellular concrete is that it will continue to flow and penetrate voids and small spaces until its initial set.

The room was approximately 18’ x 80’ with an average depth of 4.5’. The project was completed in one day with one continuous lift. Using the continuous production capabilities of the CT-100D, only eight truck loads of slurry were needed to complete the 240 yard project.
